Heroes and heroines captivate us. Whether in television, movies, comics, books or real life, we are fascinated by their actions, motivations, and stories. They inspire and give us hope!
Caped Crusaders & Everyday Heroes takes you on a hero’s journey through works by more than 15 national and international artists. You’ll discover famous comic book, TV/movie, cultural and mythological heroes and heroines from around the world, as well as learn about men and women who became community heroes because of their work or actions.
As you experience the world of heroes and uncover facts about how they came to be, you’ll find inspiration to invent your own legendary champion. Several hands-on activities help nurture creative thinking and provide plenty of fun.
Hands-on activities in the exhibition are created with science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM) concepts in mind.
- Experiencing a superpower (via green screen)
- Learning about cultural and mythological heroes
- Designing superhero costumes
- Creating superhero masks
- Developing your own legendary hero comic strip
